I first learned about SMP in my stylists chair, and immediately started my research on this fascinating cosmetic procedure. Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-inavasive procedure that uses micro-needles to deposit pigment onto the skin to create the appearance of hair follicles, restoring the look of a thicker, fuller head of hair. This procedure can restore a receding hairline, add density to thinning areas and camouflage scars and create the look of a short buzz cut.
Tattoos require a slightly more aggressive coil machine, larger needles and a completely different ink. It is also much more painful because the ink is deposited deeper into the skin and requires a different technique in application.
One complete treatment takes usually takes three separate sessions to be able to achieve a natural look. Time and number of sessions depend on the extent of the hair loss, and desired look among other factors. Depending on the daily care of the scalp, treatments can last three to five years before a touch procedure may be needed.
